Advanced 7D FEMTO-LASIK 

The 7D FEMTO-LASIK (Femtosecond Laser in situ Keratomileusis) method is an advanced evolution of the traditional LASIK procedure. It is a state-of-the-art laser technique used to correct refractive vision errors.

Unlike conventional methods, the cornea is not opened with a scalpel but with a femtosecond laser. This laser technology operates with significantly greater precision than a scalpel. The resulting corneal flap (lamella) is therefore thinner, allowing for a more tissue-conserving treatment.

Every treatment begins with a non-binding, free initial consultation. During this meeting, we assess your suitability and discuss the expected results in detail.

Preliminary examinations

Using state-of-the-art technology, we carry out comprehensive diagnostic tests and take the time to answer your questions. If you and our team decide on the 7D FEMTO-LASIK method, we will provide detailed information about the procedure and its aftercare.

On the Day of Treatment

We kindly ask you to avoid using makeup, face creams, perfume, or aftershave, as these can irritate the eyes. You may eat and drink normally before the procedure. Before starting the treatment, we’ll answer any final questions and explain the next steps in detail.

The actual laser treatment takes no more than ten minutes.

Preparation

You may eat and drink as usual before the procedure, as we only numb your eye using eye drops.

Step 2

Femtosecond Laser

First, the top layer of the cornea is prepared using a femtosecond laser. This creates a thin flap, known as the corneal flap.

This flap is gently lifted and folded back for the duration of the treatment.
 

Step 4

Laser Treatment

The refractive error is corrected using the excimer laser, which only takes a few seconds.
Thanks to the eye-tracking system, the laser works with extreme precision and can instantly respond to even the slightest eye movements.

Step 5

Completion of Treatment

After the laser treatment, the flap is immediately repositioned.
It adheres naturally and heals within the following days, fusing with the rest of the cornea.

You will then receive anti-inflammatory and antibacterial eye drops, and a protective contact lens will be applied.

Your eyes will be checked again after the procedure.
We’ll also schedule your follow-up appointment during this visit.

The FEMTO-LASIK method is only performed at our eye clinic if the stability of your vision has been confirmed. Once this is the case, your prescription should no longer change significantly. The laser treatment, therefore, leads to a permanent result.

No, that is not possible. The laser only works on the outermost layer of the human cornea.

At our eye clinic, we exclusively use state-of-the-art technology from Schwind for laser eye treatments. This system features multiple safety mechanisms, including 7D eye tracking, which allows the laser to react to even the smallest eye movements within milliseconds and stop the treatment instantly if needed. Moreover, the laser only acts on the outermost layer of the cornea. Therefore, serious complications or even blindness from laser eye surgery can be ruled out.

Many of our patients report a significant improvement in vision immediately after FEMTO-LASIK. Thanks to the rapid healing process, most people can return to work as early as the day after the follow-up examination.
