Laser Treatment for Presbyopia at the Laser Eye Center 1180 Vienna

Presbyopia can be corrected easily, safely, and quickly using laser technology. The laser precisely reshapes the cornea to correct the refractive error. After the treatment, you can immediately enjoy life without glasses or contact lenses.

We are happy to provide you with comprehensive advice during a free initial consultation and recommend the laser treatment best suited to your needs.

What is age-related farsightedness?

Presbyopia is a refractive error that develops with age. People affected find it increasingly difficult to see nearby objects clearly. The eye loses its ability to adjust focus (accommodate).

Starting around the age of 40, the eye gradually loses its ability to accommodate
because the elasticity of the lens decreases. Accommodation refers to the contraction and relaxation of the ciliary muscles, which adjust the curvature of the lens for near and far vision.

What symptoms does presbyopia cause?

Presbyopia can initially be compensated for by the eye's accommodation ability.
However, this ability diminishes over time. The constant strain on the eye can cause symptoms such as headaches, eye pain, burning eyes and rapid eye fatigue.
When corrected with glasses or contact lenses, the eyes can relax and these symptoms typically subside.

How can presbyopia be corrected?

Presbyopia can be easily compensated with contact lenses or suitable glasses.
These visual aids use convex (plus) lenses to increase the eye’s total refractive power, allowing nearby objects to be focused properly on the retina again. The degree of presbyopia is measured in positive diopters (e.g., +3 D).

Alternatively, presbyopia can also be corrected with laser eye surgery. We are happy to provide you with comprehensive advice in a free initial consultation  and recommend the laser treatment best suited to your needs.
