The laser eye treatment takes about 4-5 minutes per eye, with the actual laser procedure lasting just a few seconds. Including preparation and follow-up, you will spend approximately 1 hour at the Laser Eye Centre Vienna on the day of treatment.
No, this is not possible. The laser only works on the outermost layer of the human eye, the cornea.
Depending on the laser method, the treatment costs between € 990 and € 2750, including VAT, per eye. We have provided an overview of treatment costs for you!
Generally, statutory health insurance does not cover the cost of laser eye surgery. However, you can claim the costs as "exceptional medical expenses" on your annual tax return and receive a calculated reimbursement from the tax office.
Your suitability for laser eye surgery depends on factors such as age, visual impairment, anatomy, medical history, and lifestyle. During the initial consultation, we take the time to address all your wishes, needs, expectations, and questions.
At the Laser Eye Centre Vienna, we treat farsightedness, nearsightedness, astigmatism, and age-related vision loss (presbyopia).
No, the laser eye treatment is painless. In the first few hours after the procedure, you may feel a slight pulling sensation. After a Trans-PRK treatment, you might experience a mild foreign body sensation. With the FEMTO-LASIK method, you will hardly feel anything.
Depending on the chosen method, you will be able to see clearly without glasses or contact lenses as early as the next day.
About 30 minutes after the laser eye procedure, you can go home.
A week before the treatment, avoid wearing contact lenses.
On the day of the surgery, come to the Laser Eye Centre Vienna without makeup, facial cream, perfume, or aftershave. It is also recommended to have a good breakfast and be well-rested before the procedure.
If your visual impairment is stable at the time of surgery, the correction achieved by the laser eye treatment is permanent.
Immediately after the laser eye treatment, your eyes will be thoroughly examined. The following day, another eye examination will take place at the Laser Eye Centre Vienna. The final eye check-up is scheduled three months after the treatment.
Further follow-up examinations are arranged individually as needed. Our health insurance clinic is usually available for this purpose. We are also proud to work with top private health insurance companies.
The Trans-PRK method is only performed at our laser eye center if the stability of your vision has been confirmed. Once this is the case, your visual acuity should no longer change significantly. The laser treatment, therefore, results in a permanent correction.
Since numbing eye drops are applied before the procedure, laser eye surgery is completely painless. You may experience a slight pulling sensation during the first few hours after treatment. With the Trans-PRK method, a mild foreign body sensation may also occur in the days following the procedure.
At our eye clinic, we exclusively use state-of-the-art technology from Schwind for laser eye treatments. This system includes multiple safety features, including 7D eye tracking, which enables the laser to respond to even the slightest eye movements within milliseconds and to stop the treatment immediately if necessary. Additionally, the laser operates only on the outermost layer of the cornea. Serious complications or even blindness from laser eye surgery are therefore ruled out.
With the Trans-PRK method, the top layer of the cornea is removed using a Schwind laser. This layer needs to regenerate after the procedure. To allow your eyes to heal, it is recommended to avoid working for 3 to 5 days after the treatment. This recovery period may vary individually and will be discussed with you in detail during your pre-examination.
There is no maximum age for laser eye surgery. Whether you are generally suitable for treatment depends on various factors such as age, type of refractive error, eye anatomy, medical history, and lifestyle.

Intraocular lenses (IOLs) are artificial lenses that, unlike traditional contact lenses, are implanted inside the eye to correct refractive errors. They cannot shift, are not visible from the outside, and are completely unnoticeable to the patient. Depending on the type of visual impairment, lifestyle, and eye structure, different lens types can be selected: monofocal, multifocal, or toric lenses. This selection is made individually and can be determined during a free and non-binding initial consultation.
Intraocular lenses are designed to remain in the eye permanently and provide a long-term solution. The procedure is fundamentally reversible – the lenses can be removed if necessary.
During lens implantation, a small incision is made. Through this incision, the artificial lens is inserted into the eye in a folded state and precisely positioned between the natural lens and the iris.
A noticeable improvement in vision is usually evident as early as the day after ICL implantation. However, for optimal healing, we recommend refraining from work and physically demanding activities during the first few days.
Improved vision is typically noticeable as early as the day after the lens implantation.
Intraocular lenses (IOLs) are made of collagen and are specifically designed for long-term use in the eye. They are generally very well tolerated. In rare cases, mild irritation may occur – in such instances, the lens can be easily removed.
The FEMTO-LASIK method is only performed at our eye clinic if the stability of your vision has been confirmed. Once this is the case, your prescription should no longer change significantly. The laser treatment, therefore, leads to a permanent result.
No, that is not possible. The laser only works on the outermost layer of the human cornea.
At our eye clinic, we exclusively use state-of-the-art technology from Schwind for laser eye treatments. This system features multiple safety mechanisms, including 7D eye tracking, which allows the laser to react to even the smallest eye movements within milliseconds and stop the treatment instantly if needed. Moreover, the laser only acts on the outermost layer of the cornea. Therefore, serious complications or even blindness from laser eye surgery can be ruled out.
Many of our patients report a significant improvement in vision immediately after FEMTO-LASIK. Thanks to the rapid healing process, most people can return to work as early as the day after the follow-up examination.
The PresbyMax method is only performed at our eye clinic if the stability of the eyes has been confirmed. If this is the case, the visual acuity should no longer change significantly.
As a result, the laser treatment leads to a permanent correction.
Since numbing eye drops are used before the laser treatment, the procedure is completely painless. In the first few hours after the treatment, you may feel a slight pulling sensation.
With the Trans-PRK method, a mild foreign body sensation may also occur after the procedure. With FEMTO-LASIK, you will hardly feel anything at all.
